Why We Need to Raise Money

Therapies

Our immediate need is to pay for Neve's therapies, many of which are delivered by private practitioners. We only have one income coming in and so help to pay for Neve's therapies is invaluable. Each therapy costs between £30-£100 per session and therapies are either weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

The Ketogenic Diet

Neve is on the Ketogenic Diet which is a high fat, adequate protein and low carbohydrate diet to help control her seizures (see Therapies). In order to ensure that she is getting the best possible nutrients from her diet we buy all organic food (where possible), and supplement her diet with organic flax seed oil, organic avocado oil, magnesium, vitamins D and B6, and fish oils and this adds around £300 each month to our food bill.

Specialist Play Equipment

Neve is developmentally delayed and has learning difficulties. We are finding that she responds best to specialised toys and play equipment that provides her with lots of sensory input. Unfortunately this play equipment is often far more expensive than normal toys. Thanks to everyone's fantastic support we have been able to buy her a spring-free trampoline and create a sensory musical garden 'pods' for her.

Mobility Aids

Neve is currently in a special needs pushchair but at some time in the not too distant future she will need a wheelchair and we may need to pay for some or all of this depending on her requirements. She may also need help with the stairs and getting in and out of the bath in the future too.
